Kråbøl are a band from Norway that plays a very traditional and Norwegian form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Never" which will be released in May by Terratur Possessions.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the album while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Synths can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with the solos and leads also bringing in a very aggressive and modern style, some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length as well as the music also being very heavily rooted in the Norwegian tradition.
Kråbøl plays a musical style that takes a traditional and aggressive form of Norwegian black metal and updates it for the modern era. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in a mixture of Norwegian and English and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Kråbøl are a very great sounding Norwegian black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Talisman" and "Fundaments". 8 out of 10.
